Building community
through care.
Hêvî Kurdish Center for Mental Health and Community Care is a Kurdish-led, community-based organization supporting mental health and well-being of Kurdish-speaking and Kurdish-identifying people in Toronto and Ontario.
We support our community through referrals, education, mental health systems navigation, and holistic mental and community care programming—meeting people where they are and walking alongside them.
Our vision is rooted in a simple truth: mental health does not exist in isolation. It is shaped by the conditions of everyday life—stable housing, economic security, belonging, and access to care. By addressing these social determinants of health, we work to build a future where every Kurdish person can not only survive but thrive.
Our Mission
Our Services
-
Safe, culturally familiar spaces to connect and heal.
We offer peer-led support groups and wellness circles designed around the lived experiences of Kurdish community members. These programs create safe, welcoming spaces where people can share their journeys, build resilience, and find connection—in their own language and among people who truly understand.
-
Finding the right professional care, step by step.
Navigating Ontario's mental health system can be complex and overwhelming. While we do not provide clinical therapy or direct medical counseling, we act as a bridge to it. We work closely with individuals and families to assess their needs, cut through administrative barriers, and connect them directly to culturally responsive mental health practitioners, health agencies, and community resources.
-
Building mental health literacy and breaking stigma.
We deliver workshops and educational sessions tailored specifically to the Kurdish community. Our programs focus on mental health awareness, stress management, family wellness, and destigmatizing care—ensuring information is delivered in culturally meaningful ways across generations.
